thanks xtm...yes the old tank is so crowded and the new tank is already crowded with the old corals transfer. I want the open look this time and with BB it's look so bare so I just sprinkle a layer of crush corals to cover the bottom. No problem with flow kicking the sand

Stryker I have a deadline from my wife since she plan a bday party for my son on Sunday so I need to get it done. On top of that we schedule to paint our house at the same time....I need to compromise with her on her schedule and she will let me upgrade.

BTW when are you going to transfer? Did you get the lemonade from Hugo? I'm picking up my piece today.

i agree that compromise is the key. it is a nice b-day gift for your son too!!!

my transfer is progressing, but slowly. tank is in place now and i am working on plumbing and rock work before i add water. can you give me details of how you did your transfer and what you had success with and what would have done differently.

ok this is the process. I have 3 section in my old tank left, middle, and right.

1) I mix half of the new tank water 3 days before transfer(my plumbing was done on Thursday so I mix the water prepare for Sunday transfer)
2)I save about 40gal of water change the precious week for the sum.
3)on Sunday I move the corals from the right side to my refugium then I move the rock to the new tank.
4)then I move the corals in the middle of old tank to the right empty side of old tank. And I move the rock in the middle of old tank to new tank
5)last I move the corals of the left side to the middle and move the rock to the new tank.

After all rock transfer I aquascape to how I like in the meantime corals still in the old tank and still running so no stress. Now I turn off everything in the old tank except for the power head and start pumping the old water to new tank. fill up the new tank with some reserve water to make it full and start the pump.

now I start moving the corals over. No time for aquascape just stack them.

last will be fish and shrimp it easy to catch them since water is low and no rock to hide.

On the new water I try to match the Alk,Cal and Ph to the old tank as close as I can. I start the Cal reactor 3 days before the transfer to add cal,alk and mag to the new mix water.

Everything are safe zero loss....just some colors but it will come back.

If I have more time then I will run the new tank may be a week to stablize the parameter before I transfer but this way is ok no loss.

The key to my sucess is I save almost all old water when I transfer so it just like a big water change. Plus 1 week before the transfer I save 60 gal of water change to use for the transfer so I only mix about 1/3 of new water.

I thought you won't have this until next year. The itch must be too much. Great tank and love your aquascaping. Did you donate the aircraft carrier

Do you have any sps frags for me? I finally setup my tank.

Algae is slowly going away. I've been treating the tank with Magnesium every other 3 days.
