Visiting Denver/Golden next week, any fish/reef related places I should check out??

I'm flying into Denver on Monday for work. I'll be in town for a couple days and will have a few hours of down time here and there. Are there any Fish and/or Reef related places that I should try to check out?? Any good LFS??

Any other touristy things I should consider?

Thanks in advance!!

The Denver Aquarium would be a good place to check out.

Is that the "Downtown Aquarium" formerly called "Ocean Journey" ?? I am finding mixed information online. Some say it's more of a resturant with a couple tanks than an Aquarium.

It is the Downtown aquarium. More like an aquarium with a restarant attached. google some pictures and it is pretty cool.

Also consider the Coors Brewery tour in Golden.

Denver mountain park system, Jefferson County parks, Douglas County parks are all very close by if you have any daylight hours you want to spend in the "real" Colorado.

As far as fish stores...what part of town will you be staying in? Here's my (somewhat dated) take on our LFSs. (There's an interactive google map link near the top to help with the geography.)

If you're on expenses, have a car, and are a carnivore try to schedule a dinner at the Buckhorn Exchange (the real deal--Colorado liquor license #1) or The Fort (a little fancier, a little farther out and a little less "authentic"--but a great view.)

Any other interests we might help you pursue while you're out here? live music? theater?

I just got back from the Downtown Aquarium and it was exceptional. I walked the whole place, doubled back and walked it again.

I had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time talking with one of the volunteers about their coral reef tank. It was great experience.

Thank you very much for the suggestion!!!

Weather is awesome!!! Being from the Buffalo, NY area, this time of the year I expect lots of snow with my Christmas lights, not beautiful sunny skies.

Now just don't tell anyone.

(That's how we ended up with so may Texans in the 80's and Californians in the 90's )

Was there last Friday night, had dinner in the Resteraunt and thought the aquarium itself was better than the Baltimore Aquairum.

Artful-dodger, would love to see an up-dated version or at least a place where others could post up-dated comments. Everyone loves to use your site as reference and I think as things change with time, that it could be more useful and informative. Thank you for putting the site together.
