Pump, SCWD & Eductors?
I need some input... is this a good idea for a 110g reef...
I have a Little Giant 3-MDQX-SC w/ 1" return lines into a SCWD (1" reduced to 3/4" to the SCWD), then back to two 1" bulkheads. I'm also considering using 1" eductors in the tank at the bulkheads... Any comments or am I wasting my time w/ the SCWD and eductors? TIA... |

I've heard all kinds of different opinions on this topic but can only suggest from personal experience.
For the CL on my 110, I'm currently running a PCX-40 (~1200 gph) with 1 intake to 3/4 output through a SCWD to 3/4 hose/pipe/eductors. People on this board have repeatedly tried to tell me that the SCWD would kill the flow such that the eductors would be worthless, but I am quite happy with the flow they generate. Eductors do require some amount of pressure to be effective and I have enough in the configuration. I would be concerned about having enough out of the SCWDs though to drive 1 eductors. HTH

One L.G. MD3 driving one enductors on a closed loop seems to work preety good IMO. That is about the smallest pump that i would use with 1 penductors. I dont no how much pressure drop the SCWD causes.
I think it would be a close call weather it helps or not. The MD 3 is not your normal CL type pump it a pressure pump so i would try it. Your plumbing is the right size so i would try it and just see. Run 1 with and one without and make a call.
