Brass and ro/di ?

I recently got a float valve to use in my ro/di holding tank.It had cheap plastic screw on compression fitting that leaked.I tightend it til it cracked.I found one at Lowe's that screws right on the float.Works good!No leak!but its brass. Is it ok to use the brass fitting or does it contain anything that would be bad for the reef tank?

Brass is an alloy primarily of copper and zinc, and both are highly toxic in reef aquaria. I would ditch the fitting.

I would ditch it also. It is not worth the risk, even if the exposure is low.
