med/lrg aquacultured Derasa clam for sale

Originally from ORA. Clam's shell is between 4.75-5". I mentioned this in another thread but was fairly unofficial and kinda still on the fence. I really dont want to sell it, but for the sake of the animal think it needs more room than I can provide, and is currently pressed up the glass. You wont find a more healthier specimen! Very rich opaque colored mantle. To me, this clam is worth ALOT of money sentimentally speaking, but will accept an offer of $50. If you browse around various retailers I believe you will find this to be a very fair offer for an aquacultured clam of this size and health. Thank you for your consideration.

Would you consider partial trade(s)?

You know what, let me help you and myself guys. Im taking this off the market, and AM NOT SELLING. Im sorry for tempting you friends Also sorry for wasting time and RC's bandwidth Im going to take another look at my rockwork and see if I can come up with something to accomodate this guy.

One of these days Im sure he will have to go before Im unable to get him out! The new tank took about 6 square inches of an already pretty stocked tank, so Im still juggling. Again, please accept my apologies.

Good decision, Justin. It's a gorgeous clam, and if it was gone you'd regret it.

I know how you feel, Justin. The last time I traded in a derasa, it ended in disaster. Grew a 2 incher to a 9 incher in a couple of years, then traded it to a LFS to make room. I went to visit an empty shell a week later

That was a concern as well. I innitially wasnt prepared for the insatiable appetite for Ca and alk these guys have myself. Heres a quick pic of him today, the other pic was about 6 months ago or so.

Now... WTH to do with this 10" monster!?!??!

So I tested my Alk...4.8dkH...geez....need to set up a doser to keep up I guess. I'll be adding buffer all week to get it back up...thanks for the heads up on that possibility.

Ya, Steve came over one time and tested my water for $hitz and giggles and read me the same number you got! That's how learned how much these guys suck it up. Since the move though the growth of pretty much everything has slowed, so Im able to keep up with everything by just using kalk. But in the old tank I was doing kalk every day plus 1/4-1/2 a tsp of sodium carbonate every 3-4 days.
