coral attached to hermit??????

my colt coral has been in my aquarium for about 2 months and is doing really well. just in the past week small pieces have been falling off it and attaching to rocks. one even is stuck onto my hermit crab, which is still active and moving around with the coral piece on it. is this normal??? has anyone had this happen to them???

haha i have a scarlet reef hermit with a small red feather duster.

if the coral grows to big and the hermit cant even walk around anymore, it would probably be better for both the hermit and the coral if you frag the coral or somthing.
if the hermit cant move then it would probably fall on its side and the coral would be in the sand... which wouldnt be to good

Do you have a picture of it? My guess is it is not a colt coral but a Kenya tree coral. Colts do not drop branches but kenya's do... Shouldn't bother the hermit until it gets to big. Then just cut it off and attach it to a piece of rock...

LOL!!
A few months back I purchased a blue-speckled red mushroom that was attached to a shell. I placed the shell in my aquarium and when I came home from work the next day, it was gone. About 3 days later, I saw this little red mushroom moving along the back of my tank...
Needless to say, I forgot that hermits like to change homes and I guess he liked the fancy new house!!! Now I have a mobile mushroom!!

Hmm, I think I want a mobile coral!

Could I purposefully place a coral on a shell and wait for the hermit to upgrade to it or even directly put it on the hermit's current shell?

I wouldnt see why not. Hermits can live outside of water for plenty of time to superglue it on. Ive thought about doing it myself with a mushroom or a few zoos. How about a gsp hermit!
