150watt mh need help on bulb

well its that time guys, time to change the bulb on my oceanic aquamedic 150watt hanging mh pendant. currently i am running a 10k double ended hqi bulb and have had alot of growth but the color is drowned out of it. i want to upgrade to a 14k xm or 12k reflux. my question is will i still have enough light for my tank or should i just go for a 250watt? thxs

If you are thinking it may not be enough light with a higher kelvin bulb and you have the resources to just get a 250, i would just get the 250.

I started running the Iwasaki 50K after trying a phoenix 14K, and AB 20K. Love the color, and get great growth. I have the same fixture as you and had a hard time finding anything with the right color for my taste.

The Phoenix had a horrible "balance" to the color. I liked the AB for a while. The blues were great, but the reds werent there. Tried the Iwasaki and will never go back. Very good balance of color. Blues are still OK, but now all the other colors are there too. Was a little purple at first, but after it burned in it was great.

Like I said, the growth is pretty good as well. I think I have the same or better growth as with the Phoenix. I have it over my 26 bowfront. If your tank is much bigger, you may want to go 250 to be able to run a higher K bulb and still get enough PAR. Good luck.

I love the AB 10K (13K). Great par, great color! Not the fake blue look, but blue.
