dont ya hate that phone call

dont ya just hate that phone call when your other at home wakes up and calls you at work and tells you there is water all over the fish room yea i just got that call AGAIN
and then wondering why and remembering you left the top off water ON

then trying to explain how to turn it off great

well im thinking about 40 gallons of nice fresh water overflowed the sump and flowing over the top and filling my fish room up yeaaaa

so i get to wait for the call back to see if she figured it out hmm
time to invest in a float switch ?
i think so this will be the 3rd or 4rth time good thing i dont have any picky corals

ouch that is not fun. YOu said this was going into your sump. Wow make sure you check your salinity when you get home.

Hope all is ok with you tank and floors :-(

yea everytime this happens the salinity drops from 1024 to like 1016 or slightly lower guess il be adding some salt when i get home

the floors no prob its all tile and the walls are all concrete but the paint is coming off around the walls from the last few times times

alright she figured out how to work a gate valve and the water is off and the room is only 1/2 covered in saltwater
everything looks good so far

2 hours till im off work and go home and clean up fishroom and dirty up my liver

I didn't get that called but I just cleaned some gallons from my utility room. Yes, I have a timer but I didn't calculate right and I end up stepping on water .

grrrrrrrr I need to get my husband to install the float switch, yes I have it but he doesn't let me touch it. He wants to do it. grrrrr again.

how about having a damn turbo snail get stuck in your overflow and having the tank overflow oh and not once but twice in the same day lol. tank setup for 2 yrs, not a drop on the floor and in one day had it twice. And haven't had it happen since that's been about a year now.

knocks on nearest wood.... Man that really sucks... guess the fish get a free hypo dip.... There was a cool article in the new coral mag. about a reefers setup... If his top-off system ran longer than usual it would page him, I think it was some custom programming to an AC3 or RK. I've got a rubbermaid bin that my sump sits in. Has come in handy once or twice for small overflows.

hope you don't have a stony corals? with that change in salinity they will not be happy.

Terry it is funny you said that. I have had 3 tanks set up and over 3 years no problems with the exteranl overflow. Well 3 days ago I was off work and looking at my tank and I noticed the water level rising in the display tank. a snail got into one of the overflow tubes. Wow is it a good thing I was standing right there. at 1000GPH that would have been a lot of water in a really short amount of time.

Well ferrit you find a place to stay :-)
