Japanese Eel pics

Finally took the camera to work and snapped a couple of pics of my Japanese eel tank.

The Yellow one is a Kidako moray (Gymnothorax kidako). The greenish eel is a Berndt's Moray also known as a Y pattered Moray (Gymnothorax Berndti). It's a deep water species found mostly around Japan. I couldn't find much more info on this guy.

They share the tank with 4 cleaner shrimp which they let crawl all over them and even inside their mouths to keep them clean! It's always funny to see a customer's reaction when a shrimp crawls in their mouth..."oh my god, that eel is going to eat a shrimp!"

Ah, Good times!!

I love how they just go perfectly together. The kidako has white eyes and a yellow body. The berndti has yellow eyes and a white body. Their markings are also pretty similar. I don't know- That's just a really cool mix of eels how they fit each other's color schemes so well. I like those two a lot together. Really cool tank idea.

Thanks for the replies. My LFS has been getting some crazy fish in lately. My buddy who runs the store has a fish importer friend who has been bringing in some rare fish. That's how I got these eels.

Last week, I picked up this Goldenheart trigger.

About a month ago, I got this Golden Hawk.

Today, while I was in my LFS the impoter came in with a crate. Inside he had a fish that he said had not been seen since 1982. He's using the LFS as a holding tank. It was an albino Undulated Trigger from the Indian Ocean. One of the craziest fish I've ever seen. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow that I can post.

No, I live in North Jersey, Morris county. The store I go doesn't look like much when you go in, but the manager there has some connections to get ahold of some rare and wild stuff.

Here's some pics of the trigger. It's kinda like an albino/hybrid undulated trigger. The owner has had some seriously large offers for this guy (enough to buy a car!).

Now that I look closer maybe yours is a Goldenheart? Is yours really small?

Heres a Starry trigger .... they look almost similar to yours.
