Why not frag it back? It must be happy where it is.

It will grow and spread out to it's limitations with the water, maybe even a bit above it. I would think that in an aquarium with proper surface agitation the tips would always be wet so it will grow to have almost a white table top where the branches can no longer extend and then start to grow outwards and grow some fatter branches. Let it grow for a bit and flesh out in this way and then move it - see what you get from there!

Let it grow and take lots of pics and post them here. It would be cool to see.

I have a green slimer that has been at the surface of my tank for the last 4 months. I figure with this coral having as much slime as it does lets see what happens. I do turn the lights and fan off when I do a water change so not to bake it or blow dry it to bad. When I do a water change aprox 4" of the slimer is exposed and about 2" of another stag. So far nothing bad has happen the tips are fatter at the water line. Now the slimer is at the top of my over flow and starting to grow into the over flow. So with time I am watching to see what happens next.

i have one thats at the top of my tank. the very tip is completely flat and white. when i do water changes its out of the water with the fan blowing on it for probably 10-15 minutes. In the wild they are out of the water for a long period of time with the sun beating down on them. i don't think 15 minutes will do any harm at all. i'll try to get a decent picture but my camera sucks. my Christmas gift is a new camera!!
