Poseidon 2 Vortex Skimmer
anyone have experience with this skimmer? It is featured on www.nautilusreef.com

A user named bubblemonkey is the maker. IMO, there ok, there overpriced as there a 22" skimmer that's 6" od and the neck is attached by a 3-4"Uniseal it looks like. They also use genx pump's which rust. I bet the 2400model could handle a 70g max and the 4100 can do a 100ish model. If they were 125 and 165 he would sell alot of them. But for 185 + he won't be able to compete with the octo line. Throw some good pump's on there and now he's a competetor.

I got suckered into one (I am impulsive, I know!!) and received it today......The telescopic fitting releases a lot of microbubbles from the bottom of the t-fitting, and the top seal of the chamber has bubbles escaping through the sides. How do I fix this?

Well, the skimmer shouldn't be leaking as that means its not sealed properly. You can fix it pretty easy with some weldon 16 or even some super glue. Let it dry for 24hrs and throw it back in. As for bubbles being released back to your tank, give it a week or two to break in. And you didn't get suckered into a bad skimmer. You got a decent skimmer at a decent price ; ) One suggestion is to pull off the back of your pump and see if there's exposed metal. If there is get some krylon fusion spray paint from walmart and give it 3-4coats, then your set, no worry of rust. HTH

So the top uniseal, the one the skimmer neck goes through is leaking....no it should not be, and you can't do anything about it really. I mean, you could cauk it and that may work but a uniseal is suppose to be leakless.

Put several wraps of teflon tape around the uniseal to build up its thickness before putting it in the hole. Then, when you insert the neck it should seal a little tighter.
You may want to contact the seller and have him fix it. Sure its an in sump model but...
