I don't know if your saying you liked them or not

The names were

The Prodigical Son
the final one hasn't been released yet to my knowledge

If you like a great story, myth and history all mixed seemlessly into one try -

Jack Whyte

he combines Autorian Legend and the fall of the Roman Empire into one seemlessly entertaining series of books. I however did not love the later books as much as the first few but still great reads.

Mark Haddon's "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time"
is an excellent read. Funny, sad & thoughtful. . . not the usual stuff.

Stephen King's "The Stand" is my favorite book of his. . . it is like a big comic book.

"In the Heart of the Sea" by Nathaniel Philbrick is another good one. It tells the true story of the Whaleship Essex. Good if you like history and it is the story of the event that Melville used to base Moby Dick.

"The Weight of Water" by Anita Shreve. It is captivating, thought provoking and inspired. A fantastic read for anyone interested in fictionalized history and stories within stories.

That is an amazing book.

Also recommended is anything by Salman Rushdie.

If you're not intimitated by Shakespeare, I would highly recommend Othello, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Hamlet.

An excellent book is "Master your Mind, Design your Destiny" by Adam Khoo. The best self help book I have read hands down. Even my husband loves it and has read it 3 times now.

If you really want to be chilled to the bone, read "Whispers" by Dean Koontz. He's a fantastic writer with an awesome vocabulary. The Lovely Bones was very good as are the series by J.D. Robb...futuristic and well written.

I dont mind if they break it into 3 films. Just get it right. But then again I think that the LOR trilogy was done fairly well.

Looks like the story is pretty long, and would do best as at least two movies. I thought LOTR movies were excellent. A lot of fans complained about not having Tom Bombadill in it, but I didn't see any point to him being in the story anyway.

Hmmmm...SciFi/Fantasy are primarily my "fun" reads

Heinlein - anything/everything
EE Smith - Lensmen series
Gordon Dickson - Dorsai series (Childe Cycle)
Anne McCaffrey - Dragonriders of Pern
Robert Aspirin - Myth series
Roger Zelazny - Amber series
Tolkien - The Hobbit and LOTR
Isaac Asimov - Foundation series, Robot series
Piers Anthony - Xanth series, Apprentice Adept series
Fred Saberhagen - Sword series
Harry Turtledove - Videssos series, any of his alternate history series (there are several)
Terry Brooks - the original Shannara trilogy
Jack Williamson - Brother to Demons, Brother to Gods

Man, there are so many more that I can't think of now. I have boxes and boxes of books at home. Now I feel like I have to go home and re-read all those great books....

Geeez, I feel so left out. I hate to read and all of you enjoy it so much. I read a book in Jr High some silly little paperback. I read another one while I was in the hospital some Voodoo book. But I actually read a real book once too, ALIVE.
