our place is on stilts which are planted in ground which is under like 8 feet of bay silt.. our place normally sits over water (Richardson Bay), but when the tide is low it looks like clam beds.. anyways, so that being on stilts thang seems to amplify any shakers we get.. it was kind of scary actually.. here I was just enjoying some "dinner in a bowl" (meat and noodles.. mmm) while in reclined position on the couch and watching "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" when OMG.. it's the BIG ONE. lawl. j/k but it was startling.. one of my cats was really freaked out.. I had to comfort him afterwards..

I felt it for about 20 minutes. I live in a townhouse, so the earthquake is pretty obvious =p

20 minutes?! I felt it for what seemed like 8 seconds!

I wonder if the rush to Home Depot for earthquake stuff has started...

Funny ... didn't feel it at all in Lafayette, but then again we were almost directly on top of the last one this past summer.

I was watching TV (SF), and I watch the 120g tank during quake no movement really, but my little 10g on the kitchen counter was making waves.

Not enough movement over here to spill any water out of my tanks but I did notice a nice little wave action on my 40g in the living room.

I was outside my front door in San Jose, and I felt the intial hit, then the rolling. Watched my car do a little dance for a bit. When I entered the house, I didn't see anything out of place, but I did neglect to check my rockwork as the lights to the tank were off. Strangely enough, it didn't feel all that bad, but I am also built over bedrock, so that definately dampens the effect.

Tonight when I get home, I *should* probably check the rock work. =)

We'd just run a scenario at work for a 6.9 quake. 2 hours later I thought it was happening for real. Must remember to check for upside down frags... those that haven't bleached anyway.
