People still trying to push "acan maximas" hunh ? This reminds me of the traveling salesmen selling there elixer of bottled water from the Fountain of Youth. As unrealistic as it is, "they" are just dead set on pushing that name on a coral.
It's just never gonna happen folks, time to accept it and move on already The only reason anyway, is pure marketing and capitolistic swinardism IMHO. Rare doesnt always mean exotic, especially in this case. Real acan maximas are drab in color consisting of green, grey or brown and are endemic to Oman waters(no where else!)and are protected, so your not going to see a bunch of variants like you do with lords and echinata's coming from different waters like Australia and Indonesia. Beautifully coral though onad75, I think it looks like a scoly too but am not positive. -Justin

please check the pics i posted in the other thread and let me know what you think... that coral came from very reputable seller who did not want to use the "doomed' name and instead charged me the MAXIMA price for absolutely unusual acan |

More than likely a bowerbanki but could be a fluffed up hillae. Nice thing with acans is there skeletons are fairly distinctual. So heaven forbid that sad day come, start here to compare coralites:
http://www2.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/...%20pages/1.htm and then browse through the others to cross reference -Justin

Thanks alot for the reply and links. I was told that this is some type of acan. I just want to get some other opinions, ID and more info. regarding this type of coral. But according to those links it looks like a scoly.
