Over the past 3 weeks I've found about 4 dead branches on my kenya tree and it's not touching any other corals. I cut a couple of them off with stainless steel bandage scissors but with one of them as soon as I grabbed the dead branch to cut it, it detached from the tree. So, I didn't even need the scissors. One of the branches that I cut ended up floating away before I caught it and it appears to have taken root in the sand and it doesn't look so dead anymore. Does anyone know what can cause the branches to die?

sometimes they look dead but are not. they can become limp then become alive soon after. Im not sure why this happens but it does.

They close up REALLY tight. I went to cut one of the branches and it just fell off so I assumed it was dead. Does yours grow back somewhere else in the tank? Or do you leave the "dead" branch attached and it later becomes healthy looking again?

if it looks like that for several days it's dead. I would throw it out. if it falls off it could be moveing( spliting) but if stays shriviled it's dead.

Throw the whole kenya tree out? It's just single branches that shrivel up. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and post it because my husband said there's another dead branch.

A branch will shrivel up for a couple days, detach, and eventually start to grow a new one wherever it lands. I HIGHLY doubt it is doing anything other than reproducing. Kenya Trees are almost difficult to kill in a reasonably maintained tank.
You should take it as more of a compliment that it is thriving. |

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to hear it's nothing serious. Everything else in my tank is doing well and growing so I wasn't sure what the problem was.
