jumping fish
What is the best way to keep the "jumpers" from jumping out of the tank....I currently have the top open and my lighting unit over it which covers the length and width of the tank.

I use egg crate which leaves it open with regards to air, but closed with regards to fish. I don't have any complaints about it.

I have a glass top as I didn't like the look of the eggcrate. It reflected too much light and hurt the eyes if you are looking at the tank from a distance (or up close if you are tall). I even tried black eggcrate and it just absorbed the light. I ended up getting a glass top and originally left off the back plastic and put it so there was a gap on both the front and back, but now with the Diamond Goby I have everything covered. The only problem with this is that the tank will get hot, so unless you have a sump you can blow air across of, you might have an issue.

Have you seen the thread on the Clearh Mesh Tops? I plan on building one for my upcoming tank.

Egg crate is not effective for firefish, and fairy and flasher wrasses.
