I would like to see how your build turns out. I am able to get my hands on massive sizes of PVC, not clear unfortunately, because I work at a six flags and you can't even imagine the sizes of pvc used for some of the waterpark rides. There is piles of 12", 24", and bigger pvc just laying around. Working at the park is actually a great resource for reefing. I can borrow any tool you could think of and there are tons of supplies that can be used that the park considers junk, but to the reef keeper it is gold.

keep us posted on the build.

Laguna 2400 would be the pump I would suggest. The other pumps you mention are rather small for 12" diameter. With such a short, yet wide body, you will either have to use multiple smaller pumps, or use one large pump with a bubble plate. It might be best to start with that decision. You could mesh mod 3 Quiet One 3000 pumps (same as Sicce PSK 2500 that ATI uses on Bubblemaster) for 1000lph each. Those 3 on a 12" diameter skimmer would be pretty sweet. I just scooped up a couple from thatpetplace for $40 each.
