omaha steaks?

i'm expecting a delivery today. i ordered six 8 oz. filet mignons. i'm trying to coax gary to eat as much as possible, his appetite is almost nill.

has anybody ever tried these? i have no personal experience with them but i did send a gift package to my vet after he came out to put my old mare down a couple of years ago. he told me they were excellent.

I've had them & also sent them as gifts

very good steaks, nicely marbled, well aged, properly trimed flavorful beef, I know you'll both enjoy them

I like mine rare, what time should I be there?

Minuteman is totally correct. The steaks are incredible but do not over cook them or they will be like a steak you get at a regular store. I also like the size of the steaks. At first I thought they were to small, but once you start eating them they are plenty. Hope you enjoy them.

The former owner here used to get omaha steaks stuff every couple of weeks it seemed and one of her main things to get was the filet mignon, we never got to taste any of it but she always seemed to enjoy it!

The wife and I actually had a couple of the 5 oz. Filets last night for dinner. It was the first time I've eaten an Omaha Steak. I have to say that is was very tasty.

Plus, I have to agree with what has already been said, don't over cook it, or it will just taste like any other steak from the store.

Enjoy them!

kellie, it's a whopping 46 degrees right now. i wore cut offs and a tank top this morning when i went out to do chores. i was COLD and i loved every minute of it!!! w00t!!!

I'd much rather eat beef that I raised & cared for... that way I know exactly what I'm feeding myself & my family with

we always name our "freezer calves"

c'mon, wouldn't you rather eat a friend than a stranger?

Omaha Steaks are pretty good. My family ate it a lot when we lived in Omaha. Another place to get decent filets is Costco believe it or not. If you know what to look for in a good filet, then you can get 4 steaks for about $30.

Oh, and it's not steak... but if you go to Costco, you can also get rotisserie chickens for $5. They claim to be hormone free.

Bring him up! I'll fill him up with more steak than he could possibly eat. The kids would keep Gary busy as well.

Just bring the wine like you did last time.

BSB, your cracking me up...

BTW- When I was growing up I raised this huge pig, loved him, fed him, kept him as my pet. One day he "ran away" Um, ok, I should have thought about it a little more, a 200+lb pig just up and vanishing? c'mon..

But my my family was having breakfest one morning frying up bacon and sausage they said, Oh poor Wilber, poor poor Wilber.. I never ate any pork in that house again..

Overcook any beef and it ALL tastes like crap.

Omaha are pretty damn good steaks. But I also agree with the costco comment, they have excellent beef. I buy the big $100 rib roasts and cut, pack and freeze them myself, and that's some good eating.

I know it's OT, but last weekend I also bought some tuna steaks, had never cooked those. I seared those last night and served them up with a real nice/easy mango salsa and that has to be one of the best tasting, quickest meals I have ever cooked. Delicious!

i LOVE fresh tuna! wish we could get that sort of thing around here. we're limited to exotic stuff, we have to settle for possum and the occasional snapping turtle. *sigh*

oto, remind me...what was that wine i brought?
