90gallon FO Stocking Suggestions

Setting up my 90 again after a year of not having it! Just want to go Fish Only this time. I do have a 29 sump attached to this as well. We are trying to decide on something we can have a couple of fish in, and we like lions, eels, and niger triggers.

Suggestions on combinations with any of the above? Willing to take other suggestions as well, I've really only had experience with community fish/reef, and would like to do larger fish this go around.

Here's the tank:

****** would be fine until it reaches more decent size, cause I hope You are aware that it reaches 20"?
Also niger shouldn't be a problem with the lionfish, unlike undulated or clown triggers.
For that size of tank I wouldnt go with the volitan lionfish as it grows huge, maybe Dendrochirus biocellatus, dendrochirus brachypterus, pterois mombasae.

I had read that they reached a larger size, but I keep finding mixed information. Some sites say they are very slow growers, and will be fine for years, while others say they get too large almost immediately.

I was also considering a Russell's Lion, as I knwo the volitans get rather large, they are just hard to come by, and I usually have to order one. How long does it take for the volitans to grow?

I've had my volitan for 6 months and he's gone from about 6 inches to 9 inches in that time. Seems like every time I see him he is bigger.

Does anyone have some solid info on trigger growth, specifically the niger trigger? I want to stock with fish that are easily accessible for me (don't have to order through mail), but I also don't want to cram my tank.

What fish have people kept long term with niger's successfully?

when I posted about niger and picasso triggers for my 75g. I had somebody reply( it was someone with over 1000 posts too) that he had kept niger and picasso's in standard 75g's for up to 10 years and never had one out grow their tank.

I've had my niger for almost 3 months now and he has not grown any. I think he will be fine in a 90 gal.

Okay thanks, maybe I will go that route then.

Do you think a snowflake eel would be okay with a smaller niger? Most of the niger's I've seen the store get in are like 4". Any other fish? A tang maybe?

A snowflake eel would be fine with the fish you're considering.

I think a snowflake would be great, just make sure theres NO openings in the top of the tank!
