Try live brine or mysis to get it going then switch to frozen foods. I have heard they are attracted by movement?

Live blackworms. Mine used to love them. Also, like broomsticks said, live brine. Some people have had success with them eatting live clams or mussles, I forget which. They would get them at the grocery store. Mine never lasted longer than 6 months and all always ate, so hope you have better luck.

I'm by no means an expert, but my CBB didn't eat for 4 days when I first got her. I tried all of the methods listed so far and then some. On the 4th day I tried feeding her when all of the lights were off and oddly enough it worked like a charm. For the first month I was feeding her religiously in the morning before I went to work and late at night when the lights went out on the tank. This seemed to do the trick and got her used to to me and the net I fed her from. Now she's like a dog who begs for food when I come home she comes up to the front of the tank and swims back and forth at the corner where I feed her from. hehe Goodluck with your fish and I hope this helps.

My CBB did not eat for 2 weeks, by patience. They have very very good eyes so can see perfectly what to eat and what not to.
Use Mysis Shrimp as it is the only thing my eats.
It is a beautifull fish, hope he make it.

Good News!! I bought some mysis shrimp and sure enough he was eating like there is no tomorrow. I hope he is getting enough nutrients from just this. Should I add some xtreme garlic drops or something that would enhance his diet? Do they eat algae seaweed sheets? Thanks for the response; I greatly appreciate the help…

Frozen scallops from the grocery store. They love them. Pinch off little bites for him.

I feed fresh clams from the grocery store to my CB, and she loves them, as do all the other fish in the tank, angels to chromis to shrimp. The one thing I've noticed about the CB is she seams to be more active when the lights are off, I wonder if these fish are more active in the wild at dawn and dusk or bright light makes them feel vulnerable, or if this fish was just used to deeper water and less light. The clams do keep her wieght on though, they seam to fatten up fish very quickly including the angels.

So if I feed my CBB fresh clams, am I suppose to chop it into small little pieces? Should I put it in the blender?

Just open the clam with a knife and leave the contents exposed, the CBB will get it's snout right in and chow, as do the other fish.

Clam does work but bear in mind that if they get a taste for clams you may never be able to keep one in the tank with the CBB.

Blah blah blah blah worms my you know what......How many times do i have to post this on RC when it works almost 100% of the time.......

Piscene Energetics mysis...not just mysis...piscene energetics

I agree with the suggestion that you may have to entice it with live brine and when it starts hitting that dump some of the PE in their with the live brine.

Also, it is prudent that their be no competitors. You go dropping a CBB with 4 tangs then you stand no chance.

cheers

Not to be contrary here, but my CBB spits out PE and loves the Hikarii mysis and the Hikarii Ocean plankton. I was not happy when I bought a bunch of PE and my fish pretty muched snubbed it. I think they were used to the smaller mysis and didn't like the feet and whiskers on the PE mysis. I started him by mixing live brine with the Hikarii and it took two feedings like that to get him to try the frozen. I think the live brine mixed with mysis is the best method. If that doesn't work then start going down the worm/clam etc. path.

I can back up the vote for PE mysis. That is the only prepared food my CBB will eat. I have tried EVERY other option I have read, to try and vary her diet. She will eat only PE mysis nothing else. She does however also eat some live pods as well as aiptasia. I actually let some aiptasia live in my refugium so that she can snack on the baby nems that go floating around in the water. I have the fatest CBB I've ever seen. hehe

No its not essential. Like alot of things on RC hype seems to be the name of the game.
I believe you're right, your yellow tang is probably whats causing the problem.
