local source for acrylic rod?

any one seen small diameter acrylic rod locally? 3/4" or 1/4". I called the places in the yellow pages that I thought would have it and either they didn't or were only industrial suppliers.

Looking for a bit more structure for some of the live rock i'm binding together. If someone has another DIY solution that will substitute for the rod, i'm all ears.

Before you buy I have some I'm not using. Its solid rod and needs a good home. I don't have 1/2" though. Midland Plastics here in Green Bay has Acrylic Rod for sale. Contact Carol Ghonsuli [CGhonsuli@Midlandplastics.com] and see if she has any.

What size do you have?

after talking to jason, i'm sure midland has exactly what I need, but i'm not going to be able to get up there soon. I can probably order it and get it delivered before I get to GB.

Midland is were I got mine. The 1/4" stuff is pretty cheap but it gets more expensive as you go thicker.

I've heard fiberglass arrow shafts are the ticket. Never used them personally, but it makes sense.

I tried eagle. they said they don't sell to individuals.

Thanks feederfish. I know all kinds of places online, but was looking for something to use tonight.

daddavis1 hooked me up with some stuff to try. all set for now.

I used to raid eagle's scrap bin all the time back in the 90s. They were great and I used to get some awesome cutoffs of tubing and sheet. Rememer when a 6in diameter venturi skimmer was the coolest thing in reefing? They don't officially sell to non-business accounts anymore and aren't nearly as friendly as they used to be. I have walked in recently, ignored the sign about selling to the public and bought a quart of weld-on from the lady at the desk. They didn't give my any flack buying the solvent.

Yah I guess that has been my experience also. I went back into Eagles machine room once when I was inquiring about custom fabrication. Pretty helpfull but mainly interested in large scale orders like any business.
