One key to beating the algae is starting off with alot of plants. the plants and algae compete for the same things its just that the algae grow faster. So if you can start with more plants ....you get the idea.

Oh yeah one more word of advice, otocinclus. I started with 5 in my 29 and they did a VERY good job keeping the algae in check.
