6" dogface puffer with my stocklist

3.5" clarkii
3.5" hippo tang
5" green bird wrasse
4" yellow tang
4" niger trigger4" changing blueface.

i bought a godface puffer for my tank online, but when it shipped, something messed up and i recieved a 5" specimen rather then a 2.5" one. this one is pretty big, bigger then most of the fish in my tank. i have it in the sump for now, just wondering if it is safe with the currently fish i have as of now.

btw, tank is a 90g w/30g sump w/15g fuge. (125g system)

On the whole, dogface puffers are typically very mellow and should be fine with those fish. However, on rare occasion I've come across some aggressive ones that think they are clown triggers instead. So watch carefully the first couple of days after you add him just in case.

Those teeth are primarily about crushing shells of shrimp and crabs which are the primary diet of most puffers. Some species are also very nippy towards other fish, but the dogfaces are generally well behaved. They are quite personable and often will learn to follow around movement like your fingers

I have a 6inch dogface with a 5inchblue throat trigger and a 4inch porcupine. The dog face will nip the porcupine who is new to the tank when he gets tooo close during feeding. The dog face also ate two small domino damsels I though would be ok. I think with the size of your fish and the fact that you are putting the dogface in last you should be ok. Keep him weel fed.

One other point. Puffers are omnivores they will eat anything and are partial to crabs snails and other housekeepers. Mine especially enjoys a clip of dried seaweed. He practically rips it out of my hand and eats the whole2x3inch peice in a matter of minutes.
