Fish for lagoon
I have a lagoon 12x4x30" with a eppie shark, two coral cats, small yellow ray and a V. lion at the moment... of course these are all non swimming fish.. wondering what you would recommend for some cheaper swimming fish that would add some color and move around in the lagoon... and are on the cheaper side.. any recommendations would be great.. thanks...

Tangs usually can be ok with the sharks, I'd be worried about having a lion with sharks though, heard thats a no. Also, if your looking for cheap and add lots of movement, damsels aren't bad. They eventually get picked off by the sharks, but a $3-5 a pop, they are cheap, I'd just worry about the lion though.

i would try orange shoulder/clown/sohal tangs.
check these out, im sure one of these would be fine in your tank depending on what size you get them, these are the more aggressive of the tangs. may i vote for a sohal?

How about three blue line snappers? I think those and an emperor snapper would be awesome!

How about find a mate for that Eppie! I know getting another shark might up your bio-load, but still, you could have yourself a shark-selling business. That's what I plan to do.
How about get some tangs, maybe 3-4?

Wow, cool setup. I too was going to suggest a school of chromis, as long as they arent small enough that the lion would eat them.

How about a grouper of some kind? Or a large tang, like a Dussimer?

Nice looking lagoon.
Personally _ I would suggest sticking with sharks & rays. But as for other species of fish - look at some of the tidal pool species. Maybe a small moray eel (like the Snowflake). Your certainly should get another Eppie. I wouldn't suggest any groupers for this lagoon. And also tend to agree that you shouldn't have a Lion in there. |

I want another eppie as well... the lion and eppie have been together for a few years now. at their previous home.. the only problem is i got a cleaner wrasse and think the lion ate it...and now i have a problem with the planria flat worms so i now i gotta get something to eat those.. that wont be eaten...

A larger tang like a vlamingi would be nice, how about selling the lion and getting a school of some kind of damsels? If not a school of yellow tangs would be nice, relatively cheap.

To me, there is something majestic about a lionfish swimming around a lagoon. It just looks so natural.
I've heard of many people keeping sharks with lions. |

I've always thought that there was no problem keeping Lions with elasmobranchs. The only problem is that if the shark gets curious and begins nudging the lion, it could possibly get stung and die.
