Auto top off?????????

What type of auto top off systems do you use? Also do you use systems from a RO unit or from a bucket to your sump? What brand units?

I use limewater as my top up water.

I use a float switch from http:\\autotopoff.com in a 10g sump. Raises the water level only about 2/8 of an inch at a time. PH spikes locally in the sump, but not noticeable in the display.

I like this switches. I have one in the display to shut the return pump off in case the water level rises to high. I use one in my refugium for the same purpose.

I use a bucket with power head to mix kalk. Tubing line with in-line valve goes from bottom of bucket to Kent float valve in sump. Simple and it works.

I use the JBJ setup in my sump. Water level in the sump drops and the JBJ box kicks on a pump that is inside a bucket of RO/DI water. Two float valves in the sump control the water level. When the water level in the storage bucket drops, a float valve turns on the RO/DI to replenish the fresh water.

I use the JBJ ATO. I have had great success with this, the ATO was 89.95, I use a 10gallon AGA for reservoir, and a 150gph powerhead as a feed pump. Total investment about $150.00 w/ tubing. This has been the best investment I have made so far. Here is pic of mine, the sump is behind the reservoir....

Kent float valve. Have a ten gallon tank with freshwater next to the main. It's on a timer so every six hours the tank will get a dose.

I've got the Oceanus Poseidon hooked directly to my RO. It works great and I like it very much. It's built like a tank (and as a former engineer, I don't say that lightly), with a redundant float switch to prevent flooding. I recommend it and the company. I had a hiccup with my unit and they were easy to deal with and resolved it quickly.

They've got a variety of topoffs from plain jane to all the bells and whistles, including ones that work with Neptune and other controllers. They're a little pricey compared to other options, but IMO you get what you pay for, and these units are worth it.

Oceanus topoff systems

I also use the JBJ auto topoff, but you can get it for $70 from nanotuners. I hooked it up to a small storage tote I got from Target and use a microjet pump with 1/4" tubing. My total cost was about $100.

It is by far the best thing I got since water level in a nano is so critical to your stability. Adding 8 oz a day is a PITA. This method I fill the bin about once a week or so.

Lifereef float switch on my 75 gallon (10gallon AGA for reservoir), which powers a maxijet powerhead. The nice thing is that the 10 gallon fits (albeit just barely) in my stand next to the sump. I don't think these are made anymore, but they're nice.

JBJ on my prop system, again pumping from a 10 gallon tank.

I love the salinity stability they provide, and I only have to refill with RO like once a week to ten days.

Have the tunze and must say it is one of the best investments and timesavers ever bought for my tank.
