Rabbitfish experience

I am looking to control Dictyota that has hitchhiked on one of my aquaculture colonies. Does anyone have experience with Rabbitfish nipping at SPS?

Also is there a specific species that targets the Dictyota Algae? Will the orange spot have the same basic diet as the regular yellow 2 bar??

I have had an infestation of Caulerpa serrulata, brought in on some zoa colonies, and both my orange spot and scribbled rabbitfish eat it down to the nubbins. No issues with eating my SPS, but I only have millepora, montipora, and hydnophora, not any acro.

Yes, with the scribbled rabbit.

May I add that to eradicate macro from my display, I have used: mithrax, urchin, rabbit, and purple tang, AND cooking the rock. Aiptasia and caulerpa survived it all.

What HAS gotten the last thread of caulerpa to up-stakes and die is a refugium 40% my tank volume with a BIG wad of cheato, which put it on the run; and a kalk reactor. It's said that kalk will cause phosphate to precipitate out, and if you put the drip right over your skimmer intake [3rd factor, a big skimmer]---it will take some of the phosphate out, too.

I have happily watched the last strand of caulerpa in my tank go pale and die out. There's a little in my refugium, which I'd rather not, but I'll sell it when I whack off half my cheatomorpha to sell it, and I pass this along to those who are fighting the same battle in hopes it might help.

My blue stripped rabbit devoured zoos and shrooms, tasted trumpets, (but leaves them alone now) but has never even looked at SPS. It eats all macro including bubble algae in my display.

Milli is an acro...and I'd say if it leaves milliepora alone...it will leave other acros alone...but it's always a gamble

Given the spelling, and the amount of people that actually have Fire Coral, I think its much safer to assume A.Millepora, than Millipora sp.

My foxface eats zoa's....don't have anymore...sold them all before he devoured them. He also likes to take stabs at my gonipora stokesi for some strange reason...I think because I feed it all the time and him very little. No SPS nipping though. They will bump into them and frag them in cramped areas or when they spook(which is often, they are very timid fish IMO). Be on the look out for them knocking them over is your main worry. In other words don't set your new pink lemonade loosely on a rock with a patch of mushrooms right below it!

My scribbled rabbit does a pretty good job with munching algae but never touches any corals or softies. She loves to go surfing and it's great fun to watch her.

My virgatus / doliatus hybrid ate my bryopsis and bubble algae... and then subsequently taught my Purple Tang to eat it, too (bryopsis, that is).

I got rid of the rabbitfish for no good reason other than he was ugly and I wanted to change the appearance of fish in my tank.

Nice guy, he went to a good home, so I still get to see him from time to time.

Sorry for my spelling, I actually meant millipora, not millepora.

What I am trying to say is I have a fire coral that is not bothered by the rabbitfish.
