To be honest I am not sure but I think a tenuis type. It is from Tonga and one of the few that lived from there and held its color!

Canon S3 IS point and shoot. Will see if I have a few of mine around - will not likely have time for any new pics in the next 2-3 days.

Thanks Dave that does the trick and that is a nice coral in that picture, I'm hoping it's one that I got a frag of.

Great stuff. If it wasn't for this website I wouldn't have any thrills at all. These pics are better than any online vendor pics I've seen. Where do corals like this come from?

Fiji, Solomon Island, Marshall Island are the best colours IMO.

Hey DaddyJax what would you say this one is? I have a frag I picked quite a while ago that is starting to look a lot like this piece, I can hardly wait.

Here is my addition to the thread. You guys sure have some beautiful SPS Corals. I would love to pay for some frags to be shipped if anyone was interested please PM me or Email me at Jasonanatal@gmail.com. :-) Also if anyone can properly identify this coral in my Reef Aquarium it would be greatly appreciated.

Gorgeous corals everyone! Can I ask two questions please to those that would be so kind as to answer.....

What do you think the main secret of your success of your corals has been? What did you do in the past to go from ho hum and browner corals to what you have now? My second question is are all of these fantastic corals grown under halides or are any of you using T5's to get this color? Thanks for answering!!

Well as far as my Aquarium goes I just constantly test my water parameters on a weekly basis and maintain my levels where they should be. As far as lighting I'm running a mixture of Metal Halides as well a T5 Lighting and I personally try to run 10 watts per gallon.

Lighting, water movement, nutrient im/ex, ca/alk/mag levels are all related to good colour and growth!

Nice montis you have there Racerw.

To address the RobynT question, you generally get what you pay for, sometimes one can get lucky but I rarely buy corals at the stores anymore as it is too much by guess-by golly as to what their actual potential is. I prefer to buy known entities from other reefers so there are less surprizes. Many times a small frag can cost as much or more than a brown LFS colony but I think it's worth it. Sometimes I will buy wild corals at the store and have gotten some nice surprizes and the nice thing about those is that since they are not aquacultured they are a little more unique.
If you don't know the strain it can be a crap shoot.
Here is an example of a frag I got from another reefer, it is finally starting to come to life and colour up but it's taken quite a while. It didn't look like much but I have kept it because I knew what the mother it came from looks like. Now that it has started getting colour I am hoping it will keep going so it ends up like the mother colony.
