Before and After

Sorry to maybe disappoint you, but the before and after shots are not of something IN the tank, there are of the frame around the tank.
Ever since i had the original frame, i wasnt happy. It didn't go with anything else in the house and it sort of stood out a bit. My aim was to build a new frame which can be removed (to clean the glass around the edges), is secured safely (so that if kids grab it to have a closer look it won't fall on their heads ) and which blends in so that the focus is back at the actual tank. There were a few more things i had to take into account (wont go into details), but now finally i have my new frame!!!
What do you think???

Before

After

very nice change, blends very well into the rest of the decor, the tank is now much more the focal point

HUGE difference! I really like the change! The "before" wasn't bad but the "after" is much better.

Looks good ... it's all personal taste, but if you make the trim narrower, it will make the tank look even bigger visually. I think the wider trim has an effect of making the tank look smaller.

Nice looking tank though... wish I had an in-wall

Unortunately, going narrower wasn't an option without repainting the whole wall.... (idiot who made the original frame stained the timber WHILE attached to the wall....) And i really didn't want to redo the paint job, the frame itself did cost me more than enough nerves as is...
But i do agree with you, narrower would have been even better - maybe next time...

I like the original frame....you see them a lot on in walls. And when I saw the New Frame I couldn't stop looking at the picture. It looks much more modern and clean. You really see the tank first then the border in the new setup. I'm glad you didn't use any fancy molding on it too.

Excellent decision. It was pretty before, but your tank looks FANTASTIC now! The frame adds to the overall picture now, whereas it drew the eye away from the tank before. Just scrolled up and looked at it again, it's so much better I can't even say. Beautiful.

Very nice. It's just like those Jenny Craig before and after shots.

100% improvement. I'm not a big fan of the fancy wooden trim anyway, but to each his own!

It makes the aquarium seem brighter as well!
