Your lighting set-up gives you great ventilation. Are you running T5 actinics?

I have a GSM also. Great fish, acts like dog more than a fish! When I come over to the tank, he wags his tail and leaves his anem to come out and greet me, hoping for a bite to eat.

I agree with steve the plumb about Randy's improved 2 part. With an SPS dominated tank, you could save a lot of money on your dosing.

Trigeek, thank you once again on the compliments. I am currently only running 108 watts or two Current USA T5 VHO bulbs of 460nm Actinic lighting.

ASM G-2 Series Protein Skimmer

I finally made my decision on whether I would purchase a Euro-Reef Protein Skimmer or ASM Protein Skimmer. Needless to say I am completely happy with the ASM G-2 Series Protein Skimmer and it's performance. The design is exactly the same as a Euro-Reef Protein Skimmer but the construction is where the difference lies. Instead of being constructed of High Grade Acrylic as with the Euro-Reef Protein Skimmer the ASM G-2 Series Protein Skimmer is constructed of High Grade Plastic to save on production cost which lowers the overall price. The ASM G-2 Series Protein Skimmer has been operating in my Reef Aquarium for about 1 week already and it's performance is amazing. If and when I upgrade my Reef Aquarium to something larger I will purchase a secondary ASM G-2 series Protein Skimmer to run side by side. Not a bad purchase for $299.99 in my personal opinion.

The Newest Inhabitants of the Reef.

Here is the newest addition to my Reef Aquarium. An ORA Vivid Blue Tortusa Acropora purchased from House of Fins in Greenwich, CT. I can't wait for it coloration to set in. I'm just curiuos and wondering if this was mislabled and it is really a ORA Purple Tortusa Acropora.

Coral Identification Required

Could anyone please identify this coral with it's proper latin name. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Photograph - August 09, 2007 - Sold as a Blue Tortusa Acropora but I'm sure it something else.

I recently made some major equipment upgrades to my Reef Aquarium which include: Deltec PF501 Calcium Reactor, Precision Marine Phosphate Reactor and unforutnately a Aqua Ultraviolet Sterilizer. After the addition of many a new fish mostly Tangs I have an outbreak of Ich in my Reef Aquarium. Not cool in any sense of the way.

How about a partner for the clown? They are much more interesting when they have a mate.

Avshockey311, the 45 gallon Aquarium is manufactured by All Glass. Your best bet in locating one is searching Pet Smart since their readily sold there.

Eric55, the Gold Stripped Maroon Clownfish is no longer a resident of my Reef Aquarium and has it own home since it has a very aggressive nature and chased many of my Tangs around. I just recently added two Percula Clownfish but one fell victem of being sucked into my VorTech EcoTech Propellor.

Throggs neck? Man, we used to hangout on the Jetti on the Queens side near Bell Blvd! Had some fun times down there. Amazing view of the Bridge late at night all lit up. Though that was a prevous life - don't miss NY at all anymore.

Cool tank, good luck with it all. Nice frags, and I guess I do miss being around good fish stores where you can see something nice and buy it on the spot! The selection up here, well, lets just say it's limited

The livestock is great but unfortunately it difficult to get around the money hungry attitude of the Local Fish Store.

My Verge of Disaster and a Lesson Well Learned.

Well I recently added a few beautiful looking Tangs into my Reef Aquarium and after adding all my new toys I now find myself with a Reef Aquarium full of Ich. I just purchased a 27 watt Aqua Ultraviolet Sterilizer that is now 24/7 as of yesterday (Wednesday, August 22, 2007) and I just purchased a so called Reef Safe mediciation from Aqua Medic called Exodin. With reluctance I turned off my Protein Skimmer and dosed the aquarium. Three hours later my SPS Corals are still happily extended their polyps and my Shrimp, Snails and Crabs are still walking around with no problem. With some luck I won't loose the $400.00 worth of fish I just added.
