lionfish feeding
i have had my lionfish for almost a year now and i have been feeding him krill and every once and awhile some rosies from lfs. he has stopped eating and is starting to get real weak. i put some rosies in just yesterday and he acted like he wanted them but just didn't have the energy to do the act.
if you have any ideas plz help i don't want him to die!!!! |

How long as it been since he's eaten? The krill is a very lopsided diet. While it is a good food, as the primary food it is not good. Try getting some silversides and putting one on the end of feeding stick, tease him with the feeding stick and get his interest and hopefully he will eat.

Do you have a source of live marine fish/shrimps? If so - try feeding him live food. Otherwise - try making him eating silversides.

Try some clam or squid from the grocery store, marinated in a garlic juice. Another thing you could try is get some ghost shrimp and gut load them on marine flake food before feeding them to the lion.
The rosies are potentially bad for lionfish - or indeed any marine fish, as they don't have the nutrients that marine fish require. That goes for any freshwater feeders. |

Mine eats prawns. I cannot see feeding him clams as a good idea but squid is good.I would not ever feed a lion live foods, they are to hard to get off of live foods in the first place.
