just got a phosban reactor...do i run continuosly??
just got it the other day and i put it on my 45g. WOW what a difference. Everything in the tank looks great after 2 days and im not constantly fighting alge. But is it ok to leave on all the time? how long will the phosban media last before i need to change it?

I got one Saturday, it ran since. I had some brown algae on my windows, cleaned it off and it did not grow back since, so it must be doing something good. It is a two little fishies phosban reactor 150 with 100 grams of tropic marin phosphate remover inside. My water was murky,but I see it is clearing up nicely now. My polys looks best I've seen them in months, something is going better, best impulse buy I did since I got the tank almost a year ago

I run it continuously and replace the media about once a month.

really once a month???on what size tank?? I thought that it could be used longer than that? how much do you put in it at one time?
and strittmatter to answer your question...it didnt kill it in 2 days but i cleaned the glass right after i hooked it up and it hasnt come back since. it was a ridiculous battle before...way outa hand |

Just once a month for me! I'm not sure how much I put in, actually. I just kind of....dump the same amount in every time, lol. I'm using it on a 55G.
I buy a $30 container of phosban, and it lasts me about 4 months. Not too bad. |
