Tunze 9015 for 150 gal. FOWLR

I would like to get a nice HOB Skimmer for my 150 gal. without the use of a sump. Am I able to place a Tunze 9015 directly in the aquarium? If so, it seems to be more then powerful enough for a 150 gal. FOWLR. Could anyone with a Tunze explain exactly how they fit into the aquarium/operate. Thanks

A tunze 9015 would work fine in your tank. It is a 5x5 base and about 19 inches tall or so, then you have the collection cup (which is what you are really paying for here as the 9010 and 9015 are the same otherwise). A very nice skimmer, and probably the best "HOB" you are going to find.

So could I get the 9010 for my 150? Sorry for all the questions, just never seen a tunze in action. So do they sit fully submerged in the tank? Or from the back of the tank in the water with just the collection cup above water? Just trying to visualize it. Also would I need much room behind my tank for it, or again is it all in the water?

All in the water with the collection cup and a little of the skimmer above the water. It is a relatively small body and because it is dark brown it does not really stand out much. Either skimmer would do, but the larger collection cup of the 9015 lets you use all the air the skimmer can muster.
