hey joe what type of eheim pump did you go with? is it the 1260 or 1262? and did you decide on a skimmer yet for your setup?

I got the eheim 1260 instead of the 1262, since it will do at least 4-5 times tank turnover/hour. I felt the 1262 was overkill, since I want to lessen the chance of bubbles returned to the tank. As far as the skimmer, I am leaning toward an H & S 200-1260 since this tank will be BB (check out my thread in the Fins Reef forum here;

Nice tank Joe. Care to give a head's up when the next sale might be? I surely take a ride from NYC for those prices!

Do they make tanks bigger than 120 in the tech series?

120 Tech Tank $$$$

I am looking at a 120 tech tank in black and stainless with the stand, Coralife 150 watt Aqualight pro, and the Oceanic sump for $1600.00 is this a good price? Also how can you tell if the front has the starfire glass on it?

that fish place has unreal prices. I paid Oceanic 90 RR 300. No need to question this. If those are stainless steel clamps on your return pump. I would remove them, or they will rust.

jdog6973;

Check out the link to the "Oceanic Tech Owners Thread" below. On page 12 of that thread are instructions on how to tell when, where, and if your tank has "starfire" on the front glass.

GSMguy,

Is the ATI the same as the H & S 200-1260?

Thanks,

Joe

jdog6973,

I've had nothing but problems with Coralife fixtures.....and so have quite a few others. I'd try something else.

Just My Opinion, and Experience,

Joe

MikeG;

The next tank sale, I believe, will be during their annual "Anniversary Sale". This usually happens late March, or early April, each year. You can check store flyers and get e-mails here (near the top of the page);

http://www.thatpetplace.com/

That's when I bought mine.

Joe

Sweet tank. I'm holding out on installing my new BM160 as I'm seriously thinking of upgrading from my 75g to 90g Tech. BTW, I seriously think you need a BM250 as the BM200 is more than enough to handle your system that you're setting up. To be sure, contact Ed at KMA Int'l, I've found that he really knows the BM line extremely well. Here are the specs:
ATI BM200 Internal ~ $549
Clearance Needed: 13"L x 9.5"W x 21.25"H
Dimensions: 12.7"L x 8.6"W x 19.2"H
Energy Consumption: 22 watts
Air Draw: 1,100lph
Suggested Capacity: up to 200g heavy, 250 normal

As for long term BM250 users, do a search for "BM250 skimmer" on the Filtration forum and the ReefGeek sponsored forum and you'll see a few threads. I like the one from mrcrab.

This has to be at or below cost, lucky you! Guess the store is counting on more purchases from you to offset this drastic reduction.

Maybe so....I have spent many, many big dollars there over the years.

klam114- i just bought my tech 120, and i made a deal with the lfs for me giving them some lr they would give me cost on the tank. i paid 698. witch is cost through all-glass for the tank and the suggested retail is 823. so 300 bucks for a tech 120 is stealing it.

I think Joe paid $450 for his 120g Tech. At that price, I think everyone would take one.

Yes I did. They were all external, right? At least it appeared that way to me. I need internal, because the Oceanic model 3 sump takes up most of the room in the stand. I even had to take the top off the stand to get it in there. The Orca website didn't even rate their skimmers on tank size, so I was lost.......

Hey czerbe,

Thanks for checking in!!! It's always nice to hear from a fellow "Dutchman", vonst!!!!
As far as the "help" at TFP, it really depends upon who you get to help you. But you are correct, most people there are still grasping the basics. I guess it's the turnover.
