Co2

I have noticed my PH declining over the last month and decided to run a test to see if my house was holding in CO2, so I took a cup of tank water outside and areated it for 1 hour. The PH went from7.8 to 8.18
So I want to run a line to the outside and attach it to my skimmer air intake (AP851) would this impact the skimmers performance ?

Hi Mike,

My pH always runs low; until I can open the windows and then it rises like in your test results. I added the fresh air line about a year ago. It didn't do anything noticeable for me. Since then I have tried it "on for a few weeks-off for a few weeks." I've never seen a difference in my pH that I can attribute to the fesh air line.

But, then again, maybe you or others will see a change.

Thanks Rick, I read that others tried running an air line from outside but did not know if it would make a difference. Plus I would have to run about 50 ft of airline.

. . . and 50ft of airline tubing sounds like 50ft of dead airspace to me. You would need a separate air pump actively sending air into the house.

You could try a CO2 scrubber.

Mike, is the drip of Cal. rx close to skimmer? is it in small room? Can a small fan help circulate the air, ( I did this)
before doing this, I was going to run a 3/4 PVC to the outside install cap with holes drilled in it , with filtermedia stuffed inside it, to keep out bugs..

Charlie :
Yes the calcium reactor is near the skimmer output (input direct from overflow). Tank is built into the wall so all equipment is in a room behind it. I keep the door to room open most of the time but that does not help, I think the CO2 in the house itself from heatpump appliances ect. impacts tank PH. I notice in the months I can leave the windows open the Tanks PH is normal. I do have a kalc stirrer attached to my top off and that has a dosing pump controled by a float switch in sump. The effluent coming out of reactor is 6.28-6.30. Nothing in the tank seems to be bothered, alk and calcium are good and stable. Just wanted to see if I had an easy way of blowing off the excess CO2

Yes i do have a hole in the floor to run line to chiller, the crawlspace is conditioned (actually has duct from heatpump) But I could try and see what happens.
