What happens when they reach the surface? Do they just stop growing up and out of the water and branch out?

Sort of. Mine grow about 1/4 inch out and stop and I have a couple that look like they are a table surface growing across the top. It's kind of neat to be honest.

They can grow that high up and be ok? My 250w DE halides are about 4" from the water surface.

Not to take away the thread, but would a green slimer with blue tips need bright light to keep its color? I have it down low and it seemed to have maybe lost the blue tip a little, but I just got it to so it transfered tanks not too long ago.

An older pic and the coral has long since been fragged into many colonies.

Sweet pics everyone.

jmluna- what is that flat, green coral in the center of your tank?

I call him TERMINATOR

This is a huge hydnophora sp. I bought this coral 5 years ago. It has grown like a plate and only the last year develops some vertical branchs.
