I would avoid such a specimen. Chances are (unless it is one of those odd Heteractis spp. anemones, some of which actually are yellow) it is a dyed individual. The chances of it surviving are very low. They should be a tan (or brown) to green to purple in color, but never yellow.

not always , if it's a light to lime yellow it could also be a bleached green h. crispa . a pic. would help .

Regardless, I would avoid the bleached ones also. Also keep in mind that when they bleach, green H. crispa do not always turn that color. When mine (a green one) had a bleaching spell years ago, parts of it turned stark white.

good advice , goes without saying .

in the past few years i've been seeing more of them arrive with partial to just about full to full color . however when i got my first sebae i had to search to find one with a hint of a light tannish brown color on a small part of a few tentacles . one or two in that shipment (of about 24), were light yellow . phender's '95 fama article warned against buying the yellow ones stating that nobody could keep those alive for any length of time . the lfs was getting trans-shippments , i doubt those few yellow specimens were dyed . most of the sebaes in the shipment were bleached white .

i have read that there are naturally occurring yellow tentacled crispas but have never seen a picture of one in the wild , nor have i seen a photo of one which has been kept long term in an aquarium .

i did see a small but healthy specimen in a lfs with blue tipped pale yellow tentacles , a dark brown oral disc and grey column with yellow blotches . i was thinking that the yellow was going to turn green and didn't buy it . i'd like to see what it looks like now if it's still alive but you know how that goes . there was another in that shipment with the exact same coloring except that the tentacles were tannish rather than light yellow . that further led me to think the yellow would turn to green , often (but not always), the case with yellow s. haddoni's .

my current crispa has purple tips with a cast tint of purple extending down the orange honey mustard colored tentacles . they appear more yellowish during the time of day when exposed to direct sun but i'm quite sure it's not the yellow referenced in descriptions .

yes these photos are pretty bad , i used a non megapix cell phone . it's time for a new one so i may be able to get better shots soon . unfortunately the digacam i'm interested in isn't due out till fall .
the first pic should give you an idea of the yellowish color .

btw snap that aquacon.com pic looks photoshopped , the outer edges look more like the light yellow/lime greenish color that i often see just more trumped up . is that what you saw at your lfs ?

cool

yeah 55 , got it almost four months ago . tank lights were out when i read the request , i used the old pic's .

nevertheless if sasquatch's looks like it does in that photo and continues to stay that way i'll be looking for a new home for mine very soon .

although i still have doubts (but what do i know) . other photos on aquacon.com seemed a bit synthetic too . have any other's here been in that store to see these ? the web-site gives the impression that they have more of them (seems to good to be true) . in the early 00's a lfs was getting dyed yellow pagoda corals and some others , thankfully , the staff was quick to tell me not to buy them .

Waiting for your clowns to host?
A week in now and my clowns still haven't discovered their RBTA. I know it can take a while...and to just leave them to it, but it's maddening!
So, that brings me to this post...
I figure there must be a load of people out there in the same boat and maybe if we all posted pics of our clowns and nems and all concentrate really hard on each others we can collectively will them to host!
I'll start...
My RBTA, called "Spaghetti" (reference to an Aqua Teen episode hehe)
If you have some clowns that are refusing to host please take some pics and tell us about them here. Hopefully we can get make some happy couples!
It would also be great to hear from people who have had difficult clowns eventually host (the more pics the better!) to reassure others that it will (probably!) happen. You may post encouragement if yours hosted straight away… but no gloating allowed!"
