Yeah they can wear you down quite quickly. Raising fry is challenging, but a labor of love.

It is not certain whether a parent will pass on any diseases to the fry. I would be leary of medicating fry from day one. It is quite possible you would create antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria if there is any present with the aunt of WC's that you will need to be doing. THis has happenend to a couple breeders in the past.

Good Luck Melev.

There isn't much to say. Both are still in their 10g tank, and still eat Hikari mysis daily. The male that looked pregnant doesn't look pregnant anymore, but I never saw any babies. Casper still doesn't eat properly, but seems fine. It is very strange.

Yep. I'm going to build a new tank for them. I hope they like it.

Maybe something along the lines of a 14g system. I made something that looks like this in the past, and thought it might be a good seahorse tank.

I don't remember exactly. It was probably near 18" tall I think. Since I'd be building it, I have options based on the acrylic I have on hand.

Cool tank! Must be nice to be talented with acrylic. My SH tank is 24" tall and I wish it was taller. If I could build my own SH tank it would be 30" tall minimum. I love watching them dance from the top of the tank to the sandbed while courting. I'm actually getting my old 70 tall back for that reason. It's great that they are doing well.

Perfecto makes an awsome tank for sea horses. It's a 47G Column. 31 tall, 18 wide, 20 long. I purchased this tank for my pair of Erectus. They are still in the QT tank and it's cycling now. This is the tallest tank I could find. Unfortunately, with a tank this tall, I can't reach the bottom 6 inches to clean the glass. Never thought of that when I bought it. Because the tank is so deep, I have to have Metal halides on it so the macros in the bottom of the tank get enough light. The sea grasses require higher lighting than the regular macros. I can't wait 'till the Erectus are in this tank.

If you haven't already, invest in a mag-float. It's a magnetic glass cleaner, and will help you with that bottom 6 inches. (or do a deep sand bed.)

I do have the magfloats, they just don't work well on coraline, lol. Even standing on a chair I can't reach the bottom. Did I mention I'm 5ft even? I will just have to clean the glass daily so coraline doesn't grow there,

guys please realize that small tanks are NOT for seahorses. If you look around you'll realize that most of us keeping them are keeping them in minimum of 29 gallon tanks. They shouldn't be kept in 10 gallon tanks, or even 15 gallon tanks. They need proper height, dont think that "they've been doing okay for a year so they must be fine" fish cant communicate with humans to tell us when something is wrong, instead they get sick, and die.

and yes im the stupid idiot that just brought back a year old thread (didnt notice the date)
