Cheap skimmer

Why not try a gravity fed skimmer. I got mine for $30 and it never requires electricity. How much cheaper can you get. I do not have mine setup yet, but at the LFS he has one running his 110gal...

My SFE is about 16" and I feed him 4-5 silver sides every other day. I have fed him krill a few times, but he prefers the silver sides. I am not sure what bigdee65 means by they are messy.

I would go with the 55gal. Also, instead of using baffles just stack live rock up to the surface and let the water work its way through. You will get biological filtration and get the bubbles out.
