I'm not sure if they can be used externally but eheim is quiet,dependable & low operating cost. Be careful of quiet one pumps, if you lose power or unplug them , they dont always restart on their own

I like the par rating on these but cant find anyone that stocks them. Anyone know where I can get them or a bulb with a simlar Par rating.

High light levels and a long photoperiod can also slow down the growth. Is the growth that you have now on the undersides/lower light areas of the tank?
