I have used several methods for putting new sand into an established aquarium. My most recent and favorite method is to fill a large ziplock bag with the sand... lower it to the bottom then release...

aquamend is a 2 part epoxy that can be found at...
aquamend is a 2 part epoxy that can be found at home depot/lowes... it is a bit tricky to work with imo... but with some patience it is more reliable than super glue for securing rocks together etc...

I agree with Paulairduck... I was reading this trying to imagine how an RO/DI system could cause a pipe to burst... As he mentioned the RO/DI exerts no more backpressure on the pipes than a closed...

So I put my modded maxijet back into the tank a couple days ago... it was CLIPPED to the rim of the tank but somehow still managed to move (they push so much water!) anyway it ended up being pointed...
