this is the view of the left side of the tank. You can see the magfloats are glued to the powerheads. Neat idea.

Pat, on the full frontal view, what is the deal with the base of the aquarium? It looks like it is sagging or warped. Is that the lens you used? Tank looks nice and ready for some more livestock

What are you using for a temp controller? And what size/where are your heaters?

Jack

this is the view of the sump area. Cheato goes in next week. you can see the 2 foam filters in the sump. those are for my QT tank when I start to add more livestock. I don't plan to add anything at least for another 4 months.

View of the right side of the sump area. You can see the main temp controller and the ph monitor. the velcro works great for holding all this stuff up.

Here is a view of the overall tank and sump area.

Another view of the overall tank. It sits in my family room the kitchen area is above the tank behind the railings. You can see I really dont have a way to put a top off system in place and I am wondering what I am going to do about a kalk addition system. I have limited space.

Here is a veiw of the top of the RS 100 Euro-Reef skimmer.

second to last shot. this is the coralife light controller. I also have a remote thermometer so I can monitor temp even in my bedroom. I have a 2 kw generator now as well for major power failures.

close up of he MJ 1200 and seio 1100 glued to the magfloats.

Thats it folks.

Critique away.

Pat

so far so good

but while you have the chance, consider using some of the rock to make a terrece or cave lick structure. you have plenty so it should be rather simple. itll open up the rock work for swimming and hiding as well.

crumbletop,
I'm not sure what you mean about the full frontal view. the bottom is actually beveled. I will take another shot from a different angle and you will see what I mean. It an AGA stand.

Both heaters are in the sump. One temp sensor is in the tank and another in the sump. The heaters are 350 watts each. I don't know if you could actually call them heater controllers. .There the WON brand titamium heaters that have a digital readout on them. I have read where people have had trouble with these but so far so good. Its why I have two. If they fail with full heat on I may be in trouble I will eventually buy a full fledged controller, but I have to let my bank account regenerate a little. Know what I mean?

Regards,

Pat

Nemo G, the photes don't do it justice. I have 2 clowns in the tank, but there are so many nooks and crannies they hide like crazy. I was very careful when I put the rock in to be sure and get flow even behind the rock. I appreciate you feedback. Some folks think there is too much rock, could be, I may have bought a little too much, but some came from my 46 that moved in here and I just couldnt let it die and I didint have anyone to give or sell it to. If you were able to see the tank in person you would be surprised at how many nook holes and hiding spots there are.

Regards,

Pat

Great lookig setup. FYI I had one of those Coralife timers and it was junk. The timer would get stuck every once in a while. I switched it out with Coralife's digital timer and have not had a problem since. Also the digital will hold the correct time when the power goes out

Ddevlin, thanks for the heads up. We just had a big windstorm the other day and we lost power. You are right. I had to reset the timers but it was easy. So far it has not failed. I am always looking to upgrade. Can you give me a part number or a link to the unit that you replaced this one with? I would appreciate it.

Regards,

Pat

MrsDorothy, thank you kindly. I appreciate the kudos. The hard part is yet to come.

Fishlip, I used super glue gel. The particular stuff I used is called Handibond Super Glue Gel. If I remember correctly I bought it online are Marine Depot. They are one of the sponsers of this website.

Regards,

Pat

Nice setup nemo g. I am planning to upgrade to a 90 AGA soon.
I did the same with the mag floats and my mj1200's. I glued the brackets for the maxi's to the magnet first. I would definitely switch timers though. I live in Florida, the land of power outages, and resetting the timers was a real pain. I have some digitals from home depot - $14.95 each, they work great.

Pat, the full frontal view thing I mentioned is from your second pic (that's what you titled it). It's the one where you talk about the shadow from your head. In later pics I can see that everything is straight, so it must have been the angle/lens.

Great setup! Thanks for all the pics!

FWIW, I used marine epoxy from Home Depot to glue my Seio to a Mag Float, so that is another option if you can't find the super glue gel.

Jack

ref Coralife Electronic Timer

I have the Coralife Electronic Timer: I have yet to figure out if the individual outlets can be run seperately. The timer has 2 outlets for daytime operation and 2 outlets for nighttime. Once the daytime shuts off the nighttime will kick in. They cannot run together or overlap. My question is whether the 2 daytime or 2 nighttime can be individually run. For examply: turning on actinics 1 hour before the MH and turn off 1hr after using the daytime outlets. If not, then I wouldn't have bothered buying the product. Something to think about if you plan on running moonlight, actinics, and MH. From what I've seen the timer only controls 2 seperate times.

Very nice set-up Pat! Excelent job with the rock work too. IMO it's not too much. It looks great! Keep the pictures coming.

Good luck with it.

Thanks all for the kind comments. I will be in somewhat of conundrum when it comes to the kalk drip system. After the tank has completely stabilized, (4 to 6 months I'm thinking), I will start adding corals. Eventually I will be forced, at least I think I will be, to add a kalk drip system. I am told this is the best way to keep Calcium and Alkalinity stable. The problem is I don't have anywhere to put the system in the stand. I'm thinking possibly about getting a piece of furniture of some type to hold a 5 gallon jug with which to "push" Kalk into the tank. Additionally I was thinking I could do the same thing on the opposite side of the tank with just plain top off water. I top off 3/4 of a gallon per day now but it would be nice if I could do it automatically.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I know I could knock a hole (small) in the wall and go through the crawl space to the garage (major pain in the neck and since the house is only 2 1/2 years old the wife will have a problem with that), but I was hoping for some solution that would be a panacea for my problem.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words and advice in advance.

Regards,

Pat
