20 people have looked at this and nobody has an idea of what these measurments are. Please i need help, i'm sitting here with all the supplys and don't understand the measurments.

Sure would of been nice if he posted it in measurments that can be measured on a ruler.

Why dont you just enlarge the photo, print it out, and trace it on your metal.

i only have a standard printer, in which the longest side is 12in. The longest side of the reflector is 14in.

The following measurement are rough estimates since the person who drew out the plans rounded his measurements to the hundredths.

6.05 = 6 3/64
2.51 = 2 33/64
2.46 = 2 29/64
3.88 = 3 7/8
4.73 = 4 47/64
.13 = 1/8
.38 = 3/8
13.24 = 13 15/64-1/4
14.00 = 14
2.54 = 2 17/32-35/64
2.48 = 2 31/64
3.93 = 3 59/64-15/16
6.82 = 6 13/16-53/64
.05 = 3/32-1/16
21.45 = 21 7/16-29/64

You could print them out in a smaller scale and take it to kinkos and get it enlarged.

He did; you just need one of these:

Comes in real handy for doing engineering work.

This is from the Tampa Bay Reef Club, of which I am a member. Carol has made these and the ones I have seen are awesome. She might sell them, I am not sure. I would contact her.

As for the size, that is what you can do or save it to a flash drive and take that to kincos and then they can enlarge it to the correct size. From what I understand it was very easy. If yo want to do this, go to a DIY site, such as www.hellolights.com and buy the sockets, chords and whatever else you need.

I am not sure. I guess you could call Hello lights, ask in the lighting forum or DIY forum. Most people that make the reflectors do a mogel style. Probably because you have a much larger choice of light temps and size.

Carol will not sell them! She will give you all the advice that you ask or need. If you want to use HQI's you may need to adjust the size of the fixture to have enough room for the sockets.

Steve, I never said she did. Just that she might. Do you know of anyone that tried the HQI version? I haven't seen anyone, have you?

well I have not built the reflectors yet, but I will. Instead i bought a couple used lumenarc 3 from someone locally. Good price, 120 for two.

The glass needs to be tempered glass.....for heat reasons......trust me on this one. I learned the hard way.

What type of material did you use for the reflector, and where did you buy it?

Thanks,
Aaron

You may or may not want to read Bean's post here. There have been other lengthy threads about this subject in the recent past.

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...readid=1214434

There are many things that we would like to DIY and in the interest of efficiency a DIY reflector may not be the best idea with out having an engineering drawing calculating the light disbursement pattern. Without the proper tools for metal working it is tough to get the proper bends to deliver the light to the tank.

Just my opinion.
