That's so awesome -- you should at least post some of the details about the tank, experiences building it up, lessons learned, etc. That's just such an awesome idea!

Thats pretty cool. Are you going to be able to eliminate the pumps from the pond eventually?

From looking at it I'm guessing that it used to be a hot tub.

wow.........i am glad yall like my dream.........

how the idea got started was tired of having so many tanks & i felt my 200 was getting too small for the puffers so i came up with the idea of building an addition with the pond. you can see the 200 reef in the large reef forum.

there are no pumps in the pond the cords are lights that i am going to pull out because i have added more exterior lights.

Inhabitants:

2 porci puffers--10 inch & 8 inch
1 cream dogface puffer-10 inch
1 golden puffer-8 inch
3 henochious butterflies
1 dejar salfin tang
1 birdmouth wrasse - 10 inch
1 harliquin tusk
1 camel cowfish(trunkfish)
1 yellow boxfish
1 blue dot puffer
1 sleeper goby
1 tube anemone
4 cherrystone clams&6 cleaner clams buried in sand
1 large hermit crab-6 inch
1 tiger cowrie & 1 pencil urchin
200 lbs of live rock & 300 lbs at least of reef bone rock
3 or 4 inch live sand bed

the black covers at the top are drains. the four 3 inch drain pipes go into the basement sump/refusium room. 1 1/2 external pump brings it back upstairs to the pond. the input which comes out in four lines & up into the waterfall which has its own pump that can be adjusted.

i will post some pics of the mechanical room on monday. thanks again. kelly

also it was never a hot tub. the liner was purchased on line from spring water gardens and was drilled here for the pond. i didnt want a black liner so they did that special color for me. it didnt turn out exactly like i envisioned but it is ok.

we considered putting a window viewer in it for side view but i was afraid it would mess with the strength of the fiberglass.
