How come no one ever mentions...

That CaribSea puts out aragonite sand, cheap, under the name Reptilite?
From the CaribSea website:
Reptilite: An all natural calcium substrate, ideal for desert dwelling reotiles and arachnids....also contains strontium and magnesium....free of silica and phosphates....naturally spherical grains.
They have five colors in 10 and 20 pound bags. I just bought 2 - 20 pound bags for $12 each on eBay. I can let everyone know what it's like when it gets here.

UPDATE-

Now that it's been a long time since I originally posted the above, I thought I'd update this as promised.
This sand has been in my 46 bowfront from the start, and I have to say it's been great. I recommend this sand to anyone looking for a substitute for Southdown. No bad effects AT ALL. My cucumber has tripled in size keeping this stuff clean.
I'm going to set up a nano soon, and will be using this stuff in it as well.

How much of a price difference between the 'reptile' and 'reef' sand?

About 50% cheaper. I've known about this for years. It's just no one I know carries it, and ordering it doesn't justify the cost difference.

Well poop... I wish I'd known about this before I ordered 90lbs. Aragamax from DrsF&S... unfortunately, the 90lbs+shipping IS cheaper than my LFS ::sigh::

PrivateJoker64, what kind of grain size is this sand? Is it more like oolitic or sea floor special?? I'm gonna need more sand anyway...
