Acclimate with fewer bulbs?

I am going to replace my pc lighting with a 48 inch T5 aquatinics system with 5 bulbs. I have lps and soft corals in my 75 gallon tank. Instead of using window screen or shortening the photo period to acclimate my corals would it work to only run 2 bulbs for the first week and then add a bulb every week until all 5 are running? This is my first post and I love this site. Thanks!
