unique about undulate.......

i am glad my undy is become more repondsive and willing to be hand feed but still jittery. he is out most of the time hanging near the top corner of the tank and swimming about.

one uniqueness about undy is they will stay low near a rock or hang over to see you and suddenly pound on you with ligthing speed.like a tiger.....amazing,awesome . they also occasionlly change colour from dull to brillant. they can move with ligthing speed too. i have not try live food yet.

it sure keep me on my seat watching him all day long.

triggermen.

Welcome to the wonderful world of triggers. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "Triggers do as Triggers are".

They are pretty impressive hunters to say the least.

they are lurkers. if you want to see your undulated all the time, build caves with ledges and overhangs for them to hang out under.

Attach a 5" mussell shell on to a veggie clip, then you'll see the beast come out.

I had a giant clam in my tank before my Undy... the thing was the size of a nurf football! Came home and the Undy was ripping the Clam apart. Triggerman when you get a couple of smaller feeder fish in the tank my undy usually bites them in half and takes half back to a cave to rip apart and then comes out and finds the other half : )

Something that I trully found amazing about my Undy is... I give him toys to play with... a hermit crab, a snail, something like that once a month just to keep the hunter in her. One day I looked at the sandbed and noticed three crab shells all in a row. It looked too setup for my tank so I reached in moved them all to different spots. Sure as hell the next day the shells are back in the same spot! Four days in a row we played this game! Then she lost interest.

Again I would not put another trigger in with her... I think the key is maybe not another aggresive fish... maybe a more timid fish that is brightly colored and FAST. I think that is the key. Go and get a couple of damsels and see how long they last. If it is a couple of hours then you will know your other more expensive fish you WANTED to put in would probably suffer the same fate.

With Hummu's be the slowest, and Clowns being one of the quickest; I'd put them right in the middle. I feed my Hummu a large variety of foods, and have his belly expanded by the time he's done, but jeez does he grow slow.

Yeah, it wouldn't be too bad to give a undulate a live treat once in a while. They would love a nice urchin or maybe a star fish if you can find one cheap.

If you want to see the true beast, give it a sea star of some kind(can't remember their favorite species off the top of my head). In certain parts of the world, undulates are the only thing that keep some species of stars from taking over the reef.

Undulate.

Hey Triggermen, my Undy is in his own tank, and he is becoming more interesting everytime that I see him. Much of the cool things that you say about yours applies to mine also; applies to all Undulates maybe. I like when their bars turn dark blue with tan. Mine appears to be sizing me up! (Grin).
