Mixing Butterfly Fish

Hi

I current have a 200g FOWLR

Current fish

1 x 5inch yellow tang
1 x 5inch Regal tang
1 x 4inch Picasso Trigger
1 x 4 inch Pakistan Butterfly chaetodon collare
1 x 24inch snowflake eel
1 x 4 inch Blueline Grouper

I am considering one of the following, but not sure how Butterfly fish get along.

Yellow Pyramid hemitaurichthys dolylepis
Black & White heniochus acuminatus
Auriga Butterfly chaetodan acriga

Thanks mike

My experience has been that you shouldn't mix similar looking butterflies. Your mix sounds fine. I wouldn't, for example, put an auriga and double saddle together. Mine fought. Though your bigger tank may help things some.

generally butterflies enjoy the comapny of others of their species, i would get several more of what you have.

Hi

thanks for your replies,

I went for two Black & White heniochus acuminatus, they are getting on fine with Pakistan Butterfly chaetodon collare, although he does give chase every now and then.

You should be fine with your choice, I used to have a pr of Heniochus, wish I never sold them. Ive had raccoons, aurigas, and heniochus together before with no problems. Its not like they can really even hurt eachother. They dont have teeth like puffs or triggers, so all they can really do is chase eachother.

I have a heniocus, a racoon and a semilarvatus in the same tank. The racoon and the semilarvatus actually appear to school together.
