Advice for nano newb
Well, as you can tell, I've been around here for awhile. I took down my 75gallon...due to just not having the time or money to keep it going. Well, this hobby has to be the most addicting thing ever. Hence, I'm thinking of setting up a nano.
I am looking at the JBJ 12 gallon deluxe. Like this one. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...7&N=2004+62760 So, I'm wondering if there is anything you have to do to it as far as mods go? It seems like a cool little package. I plan on just keeping mainly mushrooms and polyps and maybe a leather. Real easy stuff. The deluxe comes with 2 24watt 50/50's. Does anyone run like that, and how are you results? Any advice or suggestions are welcome. PS Still not sure if I will add a fish or not. Its so small, seems cruel. Does the small space cause extra stress on a clown lets say? |

i've been running a mostly-stock 12GDX for over a year now. I have rics, zoanthids and a branching frogspawn in it and everything grows like crazy.
The only modifications i did were: -take out all the ceremic rings, use 1 sponge in the left hand chamber. -put a bunch of live rock rubble in the middle chamber -yanked out the stock crappy pump and put a MaxiJet 909 in -Y'd off the return and put a second flare attachment -added a Tunze Mini to the display area -created an actual overflow. total extra costs were about $65-$75 some pictures: Full tank from a few months ago: Y'd return: Overflow:

Thanks alot, yours looks great. I was wondering about the filter. In that I should take out whatever media is in there and put some live rock rubble in there just like in the bigger tanks . So thanks for that. I heard the new ones such in that link i provided actually have a overflow built into the back wall. I could be wrong, and dont recall where i read that. Glad to see you can get good results though.
