It is safest to drain the tank as low as you can (reduces the pressure on the glass when drilling), THen as long as you are careful and the glass is not tempered you should not have any problems.

I just did it a few days ago with my 55 growout tank. I just drained the water lower than where I was drilling. The hardest part was trying to keep the bit wet. I did a hole in a 10 gallon to practice and layed it down on its side. That was easy. I just made a dam around the area I was drilling with clay and filled it with a little water and drilled. It went quick. The 55 was harder to do.

i did a 75 and a 20h, both up and running. it is easier if you have two people. i drained the water down below the hole point. i did the drilling while my wife did the water spraying. the object is to let the bit do all of the work. you do not want to add anymore stress to the tank than is already going on. it took about 4 min per hole in the 75 and about 2 min per hole in the 20h i did two holes per tank.
