I have had him since he was a baby, someone asked me the other day, of its name. My memory failed.
Thanks for the jump start.

i second vlamingi, just a warning they get huge, like really huge. I think the largest tangs are in its genus and off the top of my head i dont know specs for it, but be prepared for a large fish.

Hell all & others,

Thanks for the info, after doing research on the name given, it is dead on. You are correct they do get big BIG up to 2 feet.
He is in a large tank now, if he out grows it, I will go from there.

How do you tell the difference between a Lopezi tang and a Vlamingi tang? It looks like a Lopezi to me.

hi

HI

Quote:
The Elongate Unicornfish or Lopez's Unicornfish has a bluish grey coloration with the head and top part of the body having dark round grey spots.
the only diffrence i could find, is where they are found & the "Lopez" has grey spots and the vlamingi has "blue spots".

Thanks

actually many naso sp look identical as juveniles. N Vlamingi and N lopezi look spot on as tiny babies and start to differentiate as they grow. This fish in question is a N Valmingi, no doubt, by the time a N Lopezi get this size its alreay start to elongate.
